Tiendanube, the main e-commerce platform in Latin America, has announced the appointment of Alejandro Vázquez as the company’s president.

In his new role, this co-founder and former Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be responsible for driving the company’s mission in the region, bringing Tiendanube’s solutions to millions of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as large brands.

The goal is to completely eliminate barriers to entrepreneurship in Latin America. Vázquez will report directly to the CEO of the company, Santiago Sosa.

“I am excited to think about the journey we’ve taken and see the effort of so many years materialized in a company that has empowered over 120,000 brands in the region and takes a step closer to its purpose of lowering the barriers to entrepreneurship,” said the new President of Tiendanube, in a statement.

Vázquez is one of the founder members of Tiendanube, a company that emerged in 2010 thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of him and his colleagues: Santiago Sosa, José Abuchaem, Martín Palombo, and Alejandro Alfonso.

They all forged their friendship in college and decided to start a project from scratch to redefine the concept of online stores in the country and the region.

Currently, Tiendanube ranks as the sixth most valuable startup in the region and the eleventh Argentine unicorn, according to data provided by the company.

Its presence spans several countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, and is trusted by over 120,000 brands using its platform to elevate their online sales to the next level.

“In my new role as president, my goal is to continue expanding this great project where we aim to keep building the largest e-commerce ecosystem for Latin American brands, taking it to every corner of the region and empowering more and more entrepreneurs, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and big businesses to discover our technology to turn their dreams into transcendent stories,” added Vázquez.

The new president of Tiendanube holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Systems from the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) and has worked in companies in the sector, such as Dell, where he held the position of Head of the Small and Medium Business (SMB) business unit in Latin America.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he also completed an executive growth program for companies at Stanford University.

In 2019, he was recognized as the Best E-commerce Professional by the Brazilian Association of E-commerce, in recognition of his 10-year trajectory in the realm of this ecosystem, retail, and technology.
