EBANX, a Latin American payment services platform, recently acquired the international transfer company Remessa Online in a US$229 million deal.
This acquisition will complement and accelerate the growth of the Brazilian unicorn’s business; which focuses on processing online customer payments.
Recently, EBANX also announced a US$430 million investment by Advent International and Lead Edge. This came through New York Avenue I LLC, Manzat Inversiones, GHS Holding Ltda and LTS Liquid Investments LLC.
Remessa Online is also a Brazilian company that has provided services to 350,000 companies and individuals. Since their founding in 2016, they have transferred US$5.2 billion in remittances; which makes it one of the main international transfer fintechs in Brazil.
The acquisition happened just a couple of months after EBANX completed the purchase of Juno – another Brazilian fintech focused on billing, payments, digital accounts and a wide range of banking solutions.
In 2020, Remessa Online closed an investment of R$110 million (about US$21 million) through Kaszek Ventures. Bewater Ventures and Kevin Efrusy, known for leading a round for Facebook and Accel, also participated in that investment.
