Andreas Jung, member of the FC Bayern Board of Management, assured that:

“Global66 shares similar values to our own in terms of fiscal responsibility and a philosophy of financial prudence that closely mirrors that of FC Bayern.”

Global66 is a remittance platform that provides Latin American individuals and businesses with a global account to access services such as currency exchange, money transfers between Global66 accounts, and international transfers to over 65 countries, all done digitally.

For his part, Tomás Bercovich, CEO and co-founder of Global66, added:

“This agreement with a team of this size is important for us because we share values, beliefs and impact. In addition, it is wonderful to have the opportunity to offer unique experiences to our users”.

The partnership aims to benefit all Latin American citizens around the world by offering opportunities for talented young football players to showcase their skills in Munich.

With this collaboration, FC Bayern Munich further strengthens its presence and influence in the Americas, both on and off the field.

This is not the first time that a fintech has made an alliance with a soccer team, in fact for some years these types of partnerships have become a trend. FIFA has sponsors such as Nubank and Crypto.com; the Champions League has launched a series of tokens for fans and many important teams such as A.C. Milan, Atletico Madrid, or Chelsea FC have fintech logos on their shirts.

Why is this relevant for Latin American edtech startups?

  • Fintechs have the opportunity to reach and connect with a wide fan base with such a marketing strategy, which can drive growth in their user base.
  • Being the regional partner of a well-known sports club can increase the credibility and reputation of fintechs, and being a startup like Globo66 the reach of the brand is greater to expand into new markets.
