The Brazilian retail industry experienced a 72% uptick in new job offers during the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous quarter. According to a report by GlobalData, Raia Drogasil topped the list with 2,237 job offers.

GlobalData’s Retail Market report for Brazil provides a comprehensive overview of total retail sales in the country, summarizing trends by value and significant players in individual sectors.

One of the most striking data points is that occupations in the biological, physical, and social sciences accounted for 20% of the new job offers, marking a staggering 7508% increase compared to the previous quarter.

Administrative and office support roles came in second, increasing by 1547% year-over-year, followed by occupations in business and financial operations, which experienced a 10% decline compared to the previous year.

Finally, the top five companies in the retail sector accounted for 94% of all hiring activity, with Raia Drogasil recording the highest number of job offers, followed by Lojas Renner. At the same time, Arezzo Industria e Comercio experienced the greatest increase with 125%.
