The Bogotá Chamber of Commerce is organizing the Gofest for the sixth year, regarded as the “Lollapalooza” of the startup ecosystem. This event, which will run from August 30th to September 1st, aims to bring together prominent tech companies, investors, and major corporations from countries like Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, among others in the region.

Juan David Castaño, Vice President of Business Strengthening at the Chamber, emphasizes the significance of Gofest by stating that it is crucial for inspiring startups and entrepreneurs, providing them with opportunities to interact with key players to raise capital, close sales, and solidify their businesses.

In the 2022 edition, Gofest recorded 11,000 attendees, and this year, participation of more than 15,000 people is expected, featuring representatives from Google, Endeavor, Techstars, Habi, AWS, 500, Rappi, and others.

Gofest will showcase five different stages for interaction and capital raising: Get Super Pumped, Scale-up your Ideas, Startups & Capital, Founders Journey, and Community Building LAB. Castaño points out that attendees can engage with investors and mentors in these spaces, attend workshops, forge alliances, and listen to distinguished speakers.

This event comes in a context where the startup investment market shows signs of recovery. According to a Venture City study, in the second quarter of 203, USD $650 million was invested in 117 Latin American startups, a 76% increase from the first quarter, where only USD $406 million was raised, according to Endeavor.

Although this figure is still below the previous year’s, the analysis adds that the capital was distributed evenly, and “outside the top 10 transactions, all other fundraisers were under USD $20 million, suggesting that this growth could be sustainable in the future.”
