Slang, A Startup For Achieving English Proficiency, Raises US$14M

Slang, a platform that develops specialized programs for various areas and teaching English for tech and business, has raised a series A of US $ 14 million.

This injection of capital was led by Dila Capital and Acumen Latam Impact Ventures, with the participation of Salesforce Ventures, Roble Ventures, Impact Engine and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which participated in this round to contribute to students, workers and the unemployed population.

These funds will be used to expand its technological infrastructure, new functionalities, strengthen its presence in Latin America and lay the foundations for its global expansion.

Slang’s technology is user-centric and data-centric, allowing it to adapt to the user and substantially accelerate language acquisition on a professional level.

The startup currently has more than 130 courses and more than 40,000 active licenses in more than ten countries. The courses are optimized for rapid learning using proprietary AI technology and machine learning.

Currently there are 6.6 million people in the world who do not speak English and who have limited access to innovative, technical and advance knowledge in the labor fields, since 90% of the technical and scientific literature is published in that language. English as the primary language of a business is becoming increasingly popular as many businesses go global, according to Harvard Business Review.
