Snowflake, a Data Cloud company, has taken a step towards its global expansion by officially starting its operations in Colombia. This strategic move is part of the company’s plan to strengthen its presence in Latin America.

Snowflake has experienced exponential growth and successfully debuted on the stock market in 2020. Currently, it operates in more than 40 offices worldwide, and its services are used by thousands of clients, including 639 of the Forbes Global 2000 companies of 2023.

Snowflake’s clients enjoy controlled and simple access to large amounts of data and cutting-edge tools, applications, and services, all integrated into Snowflake Data Cloud. The platform facilitates secure and smooth collaboration between startups and large companies locally and globally.

A secure data exchange integrated into the platform reveals new insights, creates unprecedented business opportunities, and identifies and attracts customers with relevant experiences. Snowflake is essential for artificial intelligence and machine learning. It enables organizations to apply GenAI and LLM to business data to build and deploy ML models and transform them into interactive applications that drive their businesses.

The Snowflake platform provides a multi-cluster shared data architecture with unlimited scale and efficiency. It offers seamless interoperability to work with data across multiple public clouds as if they were one, built-in security features, and a modern data exchange that allows an almost unlimited number of organizations to share and receive live data with each other almost instantly.

Expansion in LatAm

Ernesto Serrano, Country Manager for Colombia, will strengthen Snowflake’s operations in LATAM to serve Colombian customers better. The company plans to expand its Professional Services team in Colombia, focusing on sales and customer service. Serrano commented on Snowflake’s capabilities in the Colombian market:

“Companies in all industries in Colombia can unlock the true potential of their data with Snowflake, fostering informed decisions, efficiency, and innovation. We are excited to invest in Colombia and expand the reach of Snowflake Data Cloud.”

Freddy Cabra, Data Analysis Coordinator at Juan Valdez, highlights the importance of Snowflake in their data strategy: “The Snowflake Data Cloud is key to centralizing our resources and offering more personalized experiences to our users.”

In recent years, there has been a notable increase in the amount of corporate data stored in the cloud, reaching 60% by 2022. This represents significant growth since 2015, when only about 30% of corporate data was held this way.

The global market for public cloud services is estimated to grow by nearly 22% in 2023, reaching a value of approximately USD$600,000 million according to Statista data. Additionally, the migration towards cloud technology is also taking place to strengthen security, reliability, and business agility.
