Digital agriculture is poised to transform farming for smallholders in Latin America, yet its expansion remains limited.
The “Advancing Digital Innovation for Smallholder Farmers in Latin America” initiative, funded by IDB Lab and executed by Incofin Foundation under GSMA’s auspices, seeks to elevate agritech’s role in farming.
Up to 14 entities will receive grants to develop or expand solutions that enhance smallholder profitability, climate resilience, and gender inclusivity in Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Honduras, Paraguay, and Peru.
Offering up to $85,000, the program supports entities at different maturity stages, from startups seeking to test ideas to more established firms aiming to scale, with a special emphasis on partnerships with Israeli agritech firms for additional funding. Applications are due by 12 April 2024.
