German Accelerator, a leading initiative to drive the global expansion of German startups, has reached a new milestone by opening an office in Buenos Aires. This expansion is a significant step in the program’s mission to enhance the innovative capacity of German startups by providing them access to resources and connections in the region.
This new office in Argentina will focus on supporting German startups in their development in LatAm, improving their understanding of the market, and fostering knowledge exchange. The region, known for its vibrant atmosphere and innovative spirit, offers an ideal environment for mutual learning and growth of these emerging companies.
German Accelerator in Buenos Aires will act as a critical hub in Latin America, introducing startups to the unique opportunities and characteristics of the region. Furthermore, participating companies will have access to a global network of mentors, industry experts, and investors to maximize their sustainable growth opportunities. However, the hub will not be limited to German startups; it will also engage with Argentine initiatives and local partners.
The German Ambassador highlighted the significance of this opening, noting that Buenos Aires is the first Accelerator location in Latin America, demonstrating Germany’s interest in establishing a lasting presence in the region. He also emphasized the desire for the German Accelerator to serve as a bilateral bridge between Germany and Argentina, promoting cooperation and exchanging knowledge and businesses between the two countries.
“San Francisco, Silicon Valley, New York, Boston, Singapore, and now Buenos Aires. As the first office in Latin America, the Accelerator opens its doors here. This shows that the German economy wants to come – and stay. We want the German Accelerator to be a bilateral bridge that connects the startup ecosystems and fosters cooperation, enriching both sides of the exchange, from Germany to Argentina and from Argentina to Germany, bringing knowledge and businesses from one country to another.”
Dr. Stefan Drews, in charge of the German Accelerator at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, emphasized the importance of South America in the German Federal Government’s global strategy, particularly in sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, and biotechnology. According to Drews, startups from both regions are crucial in strengthening bilateral and multilateral partnerships.

This growing region plays a decisive role as a partner of Germany, especially in renewable energy, agriculture, and biotechnology. With their innovative strength and speed, startups from Germany and South America are a driving force for bilateral and multilateral partnership.”
Kristin Eckert, Strategic Director for South America at German Accelerator, also highlighted the significance of the office for both German and South American startups. Inspired by Argentina’s entrepreneurial potential, opening the hub in Buenos Aires will assist German startups in their expansion across LatAm and actively involve them in the innovation ecosystems of Argentina at the municipal, provincial, and national levels.
