Zing, HSBC’s latest venture into digital payments, has strategically recruited several senior executives from prominent fintech companies, according to eFinancialCareers. The move targets talent from notable firms such as Revolut, Wise, and Monzo to bolster Zing’s market entry.

Neil McKeown, previously the director of product marketing at Monzo, has moved to Zing as the head of product and brand marketing. Dario De Angelis, an ex-Revolut executive, has taken up the role of senior treasury manager. Additionally, Eduardo Mercer, a decade-long software engineer at Wise, has joined Zing’s expanding team.

This recruitment spree signifies Zing’s serious intent to position itself as a formidable competitor in the crowded digital payments sector. The venture, noted for its discreet approach, marks a significant move within HSBC, led by founder and CEO James Allan, who has been with HSBC since 2020. With these strategic hires, Zing aims to leverage the vast experience and insights of its new team members to navigate the competitive landscape and carve out its niche in the fintech industry.
