Klarna, a leading global payments network and shopping assistant, has announced a new partnership with Uber to provide alternative payment methods on Uber’s platforms, including ridesharing and Uber Eats.
This collaboration is now live in the United States, Germany, and Sweden, where Klarna’s “Pay Now” option allows users to instantly settle payments for rides and deliveries with a single click. Additionally, customers in Sweden and Germany have access to a monthly payment plan that aligns with their salary cycles, offering a budget-friendly, interest-free option to manage expenses without additional fees.
Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO and Co-Founder of Klarna, highlighted the partnership as a significant development in offering consumers more convenience and control over their payments, noting that the “Pay Now” option already represents a significant portion of Klarna’s global transactions.
On the other hand, Karl Hebert, Vice President of Payments, Risk, and Identity at Uber, emphasized that this partnership aims to tailor the payment experience to regional customer preferences while also reducing operational costs.
This strategic alliance is set to streamline how millions of consumers across these three countries manage and spend on transportation and food delivery, further integrating Klarna’s user-friendly financial solutions with Uber’s vast daily operations, which recorded an average of 28 million trips per day in the last quarter of 2023.
