Applications for fourth annual MassChallenge Mexico now open

Contxto – Calling all high-impact Mexican startups – MassChallenge Mexico is calling your name. Don’t miss your opportunity to compete this year in Mexico City.

Applications close on April 2 and invitees should be notified by June 6. The accelerator program itself will run from June to October with final honors scheduled for November 6.

What is this competition about?

As the self-proclaimed “friendliest accelerator,” MassChallenge Mexico nurtures entrepreneurship in the world’s 12th largest economy. In the name of professional development, attendants can mingle with international experts, mentors and potential investors throughout this multimonth event.

Moreover, one of the main benefits of MassChallenge is that startups receive personalized growth plans plus plenty of coworking space. This will help them measure performance and growth. In the end, two of the most promising startups will also receive an additional MXN$2 million as a bonus.

Over the last three years, MassChallenge Mexico has accelerated 102 startups with investments of over US$33 million.

Are there any requirements?

Companies from any industry can apply to this equity-free program. On the flip side, firms won’t be eligible if they have raised more than US$500 thousand in investment or earned more than US$1 million of income during the previous year.

Successful Mexican startups such as Bitso, Urbvan, Ilumexico, Econduce and Xilinat have graduated from the MassChallenge accelerator program.

What is the history of MassChallenge?

MassChallenge originally started in Boston, Massachusetts in 2009, home of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Over time, the accelerator started projects elsewhere in the United States as well as Israel, Switzerland and Mexico.

So far, MassChallenge has helped more than 975 startups earn over US$4.3 billion. Even better, the group has created 121 thousand jobs and generated US2.5 billion in invoiced earnings.
