Contxto – Mexican healthtech Sofía is well-aware that phase three of the coronavirus (Covid-19) is now in full swing in Mexico.
As a result, the number of infected patients has shot up. In response, the startup recently announced that its telemedicine platform is now available for remote medical consultations across the country. Likewise, it is temporarily available for free.
It had previously been available only for users in Mexico City and its surrounding areas. But hey, Covid-19 doesn’t care if you’re a chilango, norteño, tapatío, or whatever, that bug is infecting everyone.
How to access Sofia’s telemedicine platform
The healthtech’s app is available for downloading on the Apple AppStore and Google Play Store. Note that according to Sofía’s website, while these consultations are free, the service is limited to 200 calls a day. A doctor’s gotta rest too ya know.

Interestingly, Sofía’s app is connected with a lab that reportedly has government approval to check for Covid-19. In any case, if users are concerned about other maladies that aren’t coronavirus-related, they can also consult a physician on the app for that as well.
The point is for everyone to stay home and reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
But that’s not all the healthtech is up to. Work is still underway for its core product: a complete healthcare plan for users.
Sofía states that it will cover all sorts of topics including medical expenses, preventive care, among others. Moreover, its telemedicine platform is just a part of this solution.
