At a time when Colombia is gaining ground as a destination for building high-performance technology teams, a new sign reinforces this trend. Slalom, a global consulting firm, was included by Great Place to Work (GPTW) among the 10 best places to work in the country in 2025 in the category of companies with up to 100 employees.

The recognition comes in a market where, according to GPTW, only 20% of organizations manage to consolidate work cultures based on trust, a relevant challenge for companies competing to attract and retain talent specialized in technology and data analysis.

At the regional level, the figures are similar: in Latin America, 62% of workers say they do not feel fully committed to their organization, which makes these indicators especially critical for companies seeking to create local impact teams with global reach.

Slalom opened operations in Colombia in 2024 with the goal of strengthening its talent network in Latin America. Since then, it has expanded its presence through hybrid teams working on strategy, analytics, cloud engineering and digital solutions projects for clients across multiple industries.

“Colombia has an exceptional level of talent and this recognition highlights their contribution to our work and the development of technology solutions for the region,” said John Mendivelso, Slalom’s director for Colombia.

The GPTW report primarily weighs employee perceptions, which makes this type of ranking a labor climate thermometer for technology companies operating in highly competitive markets.

In addition to facing a global shortage of engineers and specialists, Colombia competes with hubs such as Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, not only in terms of costs, but also in terms of quality and permanence of talent. The entry of companies like Slalom to the GPTW list can be interpreted as a sign of local progress in cultural standards that historically have been a challenge for companies in the process of expansion.

“Even after surpassing 200 employees in our first year, we have retained a strong and cohesive culture, thanks to the exceptional Colombian talent that forms the foundation of Slalom,” added Mendivelso.

Beyond compensation, trust, strategic clarity and a sense of purpose remain decisive variables for Colombian talent to choose where to build their careers.
