13 Latin American startups -from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Uruguay- were selected to take part in the first edition of the Spain-Latam Scale Up program, organized by Invest in Spain (a division of ICEX, the government agency that promotes investment in Spain), IDB Lab (the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank) and Endeavor, the global organization that supports entrepreneurship.
According to a press release from Invest in Spain, in this program, the selected startups gain a deep understanding of the Spanish entrepreneurship ecosystem and have access to more than 40 exhibitors, including institutions, VCs, and successful startups from Spain and LatAm. The program started this November 14th, ends on November 18th, and takes place in Madrid and Barcelona. The selected startups have already been able to participate in meetings with Wayra (Telefónica’s accelerator), Google Startups Spain, La Liga, and other key players in entrepreneurship in the host country.
According to Invest in Spain, the program combines technical sessions, meetings, and networking activities. “At the end of the immersion program, the startups will have received key information about the business climate in the country and will have shared with experts the legal, operational, and technological aspects necessary to establish themselves in Spain as a bridge to the global expansion of their business,” they say.
