In addition, it announced the upcoming launch of a line of NFTs from the team to encourage the use of cryptocurrencies in the Mexican population.

Don't worry, we speak : Español (Spanish), too!

We already told you about how Bitso joined the trend of crypto companies doing sports sponsorships. In November 2021, the crypto exchange platform became an official sponsor of the Club Tigres soccer team. The team is originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, and have a market value of US$65 million dollars. In addition, a few days ago it also announced that it will sponsor the Brazilian club São Paulo for three years.

Now, Bitso has become the official sponsor of the Mexican soccer team. It shared this news yesterday at a press conference. The sponsorship will last one year, which will coincide with the Soccer World Cup in Qatar this coming November.

The Mexican team is the first member of CONCACAF to obtain a sponsorship from a company with a focus on cryptocurrencies.

This sponsorship brings with it the intention of promoting access to new technologies among Mexicans as part of financial education, said Daniel Vogel, CEO of Bitso.

In addition to appearing on the team jersey and on billboards inside the stadiums, Bitso will also release the first collection of National Team NFTs to the public.

This sponsorship trend that Bitso is joining is part of the crypto industry’s strategy to capitalize on its presence in the sports world. The goal is to make cryptocurrencies become mainstream faster.

Sports fans are more likely to find a quicker entry point into the crypto world as football has a strong digital presence; from video games to players’ social media profiles and merchandising, such as collectible cards or NFTs.

Among other examples we have Crypto.com, which signed a US$175 million sponsorship deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, better known as the UFC. And a month before that, it was associated with Formula 1. Other partnerships that also stand out are the Montreal Canadiens NHL hockey team and the Paris Saint-Germain FC soccer team.
