Instagram Co-Founder Mike Krieger Joins Anthropic as Product Chief

Anthropic, an AI startup backed by Amazon, has hired Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger as chief product officer. Krieger will lead product engineering, management, and design for Anthropic’s consumer initiatives, the company announced on its blog Wednesday.

Krieger, who left Instagram in 2018 after selling it to Facebook for $1 billion, co-founded the AI-powered news app Artifact in January 2023. The app was shut down earlier this year, with its recommendation technology sold to Yahoo.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei highlighted Krieger’s experience as crucial for developing new interactions with the company’s chatbot, Claude, especially in workplace applications.
