Ricardo Villadiego, a Colombian entrepreneur, asserts that he founded Lumu Technologies with a strong conviction that it was essential to change the approach to cybersecurity. Now, the Colombian startup has closed a Series B funding round totaling USD$30 million to further drive optimization.

Villadiego is the CEO and founder of this startup that enables organizations to manage cybersecurity effectively through its Continuous Compromise Assessment model.

“I founded Lumu with the firm conviction that a paradigm shift in cybersecurity was necessary, and I am happy to see that the market and investors recognize our network-centric approach to threat detection and response,” Villadiego explained.

“Just as our user-centric approach focuses on the security analyst experience, those who defend the company daily from cyber-attacks,” Villadiego elaborated.

The recent infusion of capital was led by Forgepoint Capital with participation from BIP Ventures, Exceptional Capital, and SIMMA Capital.

In addition to the funding, Forgepoint Capital’s CEO, Leo Casusol, will join the Board of Directors.

The capital obtained will primarily be used to expand sales globally and strengthen the company’s marketing strategy.

“This investment is an endorsement of Lumu Technologies’ innovative model, confidence in the company’s growth plans throughout the region with a focus on strategic territories like Mexico and Brazil,” said the CEO of the Colombian startup.

“And, of course, confirmation that in Latin America, there is world-class human talent in the areas of technology and software development,” highlighted the CEO of the Colombian startup.

Lumu will intensify its efforts in research and development to further advance its distinction in a market historically dominated by outdated and inefficient tools.

The company, recently recognized as a leader by Forrester in network analysis and visibility, and by GigaOm in network detection and response, aims to bring its industry-validated solution to security teams with limited resources.

These teams need effective solutions to precisely address the challenges posed by a complex threat landscape.
