Contxto – Multiple weeks of evaluation have resulted in the announcement of the upcoming Google Launchpad Accelerator in Mexico City.
Although we mentioned in a previous version that there will be 10 Latin American startups participating in the winter batch, now there will only be 9 from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, as well as the United States. Together, they will participate in the three-month program from October to December of this year.
In hopes of consolidating regional startup power, this program serves as a spring-board for Latin American companies to better solve predicaments facing the region. In many ways, the accelerator attempts to strengthen regional powers to have an even larger social and economic impact in their communities.
The lucky 9 all passed an intensive evaluation process where more than 120 Latin American startups were assessed based on their respective solutions. As part of the program created between Centraal and TheVentureCity, they will receive valuable mentoring and access to workshops to improve their business models.
Much of the content will center around effective business strategies. This includes marketing, branding, public relations, organizational culture, artificial intelligence, machine learning, Google Adds, Google Cloud, Android Play, not to mention other technologies.
In the end, the goal for these companies is to accelerate growth while also improving infrastructure, management, not to mention leadership. Hopefully, by the end of the program, startups will be better equipped to pivot, scale their product, overcome a tech challenge, or even establish connections with other talented entrepreneurs.
“To carry out this program for all Spanish-speaking countries from Mexico to Argentina, including the Latino community in the United States and the Caribbean; it feels like a dream come true,” said Francisco Solsona, manager of Google Developers in Latin America.
“It gives us the opportunity to attract attention to the great work that Latin American entrepreneurs and developers are doing.”

Insurance holders choose between the best providers over this digital insurance platform. Outside of Argentina, it’s also available in Chile and Colombia, offering easy comparisons, transparency, not to mention advising. Over time, it has started to resolve over 5,500 insurance claims a year with a 95 percent customer satisfaction rate. Much of this has to do with the outdated insurance industry throughout Latin America.
AI Turing (Colombia)
Pairing PPC (pay per click) commercial strategies with artificial intelligence, AI Turning collaborates with businesses to heighten their commercial endeavors. Its primary product is the AI Trade that allows partners to access their sales forces on a large scale simply by sending a photo of their product to the platform. From there, the algorithm evaluates how products have been performing.
Falling under the HRtech realm is Apli, an automated recruitment platform that uses AI to fill positions with the best candidates. Whether partners need to source, screen or interview, the technology is capable of achieving everything in a fast and reliable manner. For added convenience, there are also built-in skills assessments and video interviewing.
According to DevF, Latin America needs more hackers. Keeping this in mind, the edtech promotes inclusion and unrestricted accessibility to its platform. To accomplish this, it leverages agile technology to teach users digital as well as soft skills. Graduates have gone on to work for Google, Microsoft, Rappi, IBM, Mercado Libre, Amazon, among many other successful companies.
Hugo (El Salvador)
Tapping into the last-mile delivery industry is Hugo that operates throughout Central America. Aspiring to be an everything-app like Rappi, Hugo allows users to purchase food, medicines, groceries, or even transportation costs, over the platform.
Security, efficiency, transparency; Jetty is a collective transportation app for private users with complex commutes. Not only does the platform optimizes routes to transport clients from their homes but also workplaces. It also provides an income and operations platform to ease travel for users.
Mexican households have access to high-quality and affordable food items through this digital supermarket, all in one place. This is especially useful in Mexico considering that grocery shopping often entails visiting multiple locations to purchase essential products.
Odd Industries (Chile)
The startup helps its users obtain, decrypt, in addition to spread information. Odd Industries generates data through proprietary hardware like robotic cameras. It also processes images together with other data sources. Also, it works with machine learning algorithms that create metrics. This way, partners can make strategic real-time decisions.
Cloud working redefined – TransparentBusiness was built to increase workloads as well as opportunities for freelancers.
