Founded by Daniel Rivas, Reactor specializes in restoring water resources and combating plastic pollution in oceans and rivers. Their projects, Muyuk and Receptor, target microplastics in the sea and macroplastics in rivers, respectively. The expansion follows Rivas’ participation in Madrid’s Puentes de Talento initiative and the Softlanding 2024 program, aimed at attracting foreign investment.
Rivas, a mechatronic engineer from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, has developed Muyuk, which integrates research, technological development, and societal awareness to address microplastic pollution. Post Madrid visit, Rivas plans to shift Reactor’s focus from collection to processing of plastics, collaborating with entities like NGOs for more efficient recycling in industries like textiles. AI will play a crucial role in waste separation, marking a step towards a more circular proposal.
Founded in 2016, Reactor initially focused on space technology but pivoted to environmental solutions. Reactor’s journey included developing a multipurpose mechanical ventilation system during the pandemic and resuming environmental projects post-pandemic. Rivas’ experience in Madrid also prompted considerations of relocating his projects if faced with local limitations. Reactor’s global exposure includes participation in the Global Competitiveness Leadership program at Georgetown University in early 2023.
