Treinta has raised US$46 million in a Series A round. Old and new investors participated, as well as strategic partners such as PayU – the payments business of Prosus -, Liontree, Ethos VC, Ten13 and ENEA Capital, among others.

The angel investors that were part of this round were Sherwin Gandhi (President of Jeeves); Gerry Giacomán (CEO of Clara); Luis Bitencourt-Emilio (CTO of Loft); Jorge Noguera (former President of Mastercard); Frank Fumarola (VP of Product at Nubank); Varsha Rao (CEO at Nurx); Lisa Kleinsorge and Matthew Tucker (Olo COO); among others.

This round is not only the largest Series A that a Colombian startup has had, but it is also one of the largest that has been seen in Latin America.

With this new capital, Treinta will expand its product offering to try and solve the needs of the more than 5 million users it currently has.

The fintech is dedicated to digitizing and increasing the sales of micro-businesses in Latin America. It registers millions of transactions daily with a current value of more than US$10 billion per year, which is the equivalent of 4% of Colombia’s economy.

The Spaniards Man Hei Lou and Lluís Cañadell founded Treinta. With this new fundraising, the company exceeds US$60 million in total investment since its founding in August 2020.

It is currently operating in 18 countries, including Mexico, a country in which it plans to continue growing and seeking alliances to support micro-businesses in Latin America.
