Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the first edition of AWS Women’s Demo Week, a week of events at a global level focused on supporting startups led by women in their connection with investors.

During the week of November 6 to 10, 2023, AWS will organize events for women-led businesses in 18 cities around the world, in collaboration with startup organizations like Ajim Capital, Founderland, GrindStoneXL, and Mogul Millennial.

The founders will have the opportunity to present their startups to a live audience composed of potential investors, partners, clients, and other key players in the startup ecosystem.

In the year 2020, only 2.3% of the global investment in venture capital was directed towards startups founded by women, and Afro-descendant and Latina women each received less than 1%.

In recent years, this disparity in funding worsened, and in 2022, only 2.1% of venture capital funds in the United States were allocated to female-founded teams, according to the latest Pitchbook data.

These figures highlight the funding differences faced by entrepreneurs worldwide, especially those of Afro-descendant and Latino origin.

The goal of AWS Women’s Demo Week is to increase the visibility of women-led startups, facilitate business connections, and contribute to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and innovative technology industry.

Between November 6 and 10, AWS and its partners will select some of the best women-led startups to present their ideas to investors and establish connections with potential clients and partners.

This will take place at in-person networking events in 18 cities across six continents, including four cities in Latin America: Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, and Santiago.

In addition to gaining visibility with investors, participating startups will receive credits from AWS Activate worth USD$10,000, have the opportunity to connect with technical experts, and access the AWS Underrepresented Founder startup community.
