Berto’s, a restaurant chain founded by Alberto Bonhomme and three partners, has successfully closed a Series A funding round of €1 million led by the founders of Glovo, Deporvillage, and Habitissimo.

This round follows an initial €500,000 raised earlier in 2023, bringing the total to €1.5 million to date. The investment aims to accelerate growth, with plans to expand from three to eight restaurants this year and make a significant entry into Madrid.

The company, launched in 2020, is known for converting each location into a unique ‘museum’ that pays tribute to vibrant cultural figures through irony and humor, enhancing the dining experience. Current locations include tributes to Juan Carlos, Diego Maradona, and Julio Iglesias, with plans to include more figures like Joan Laporta and Belén Esteban.

Berto’s blends culinary delight with cultural homage, making each visit memorable. The average ticket price is around €15, attracting a diverse clientele, from young people gathering with friends to office workers seeking a quick, enjoyable meal. The company employs 25 people but expects to grow to 70 by year-end, reflecting its expansion and increasing focus on retail and delivery services, which currently account for 60% and 40% of sales, respectively.

With its innovative approach, Berto’s is not just expanding its physical footprint but also enhancing its market position by creating immersive, thematic dining experiences that resonate with a broad audience.
