Purina, the company within the Nestlé group dedicated to pet care, launched a new edition of the ‘Unleashed‘ acceleration program to attract startups in the petcare sector from around the world and, for the first time, from Brazil and Mexico.
The goal is to accelerate another 10 startups before 2024. The call for interested startups will be open until October 15.
“This year we have expanded our reach and made Unleashed even more inclusive by opening applications to startups from Brazil and Mexico to enable more growth opportunities,” said Kim Bill, director of Purina’s Accelerator Lab, in a statement.
With over 800 applications from 50 countries in its previous five editions, the program led by Purina’s Accelerator Lab has already accelerated 25 startups, including two from Portugal: Petable and Knok.
Petable, the digital veterinary company, in collaboration with Nestlé Purina PetCare EMENA, launched Onlinestore.vet, a project consisting of personalized e-commerce websites for Veterinary Medical Centers.
This project makes available on a single platform the main brands of pet food and more than 2,000 individual references.
Knok, which operates in both veterinary and human medicine, uses technology to design and implement standardized clinical pathways, working closely with insurers across Europe and Latin America.
“Now, in partnership with Purina, it is accelerating its expansion momentum, transforming the way pet care is delivered throughout Europe,” explains the company dedicated to animals.
In this fifth edition, Nestlé’s pet care brand has focused on new markets, aiming to attract startups from Brazil and Mexico.
“The Unleashed program is committed to accelerating up to 10 more startups using growth hacking techniques and cutting-edge, proven experiences. Dedicated mentors will guide and advise the selected startups, providing them with invaluable experience and support,” explained Purina.
