Mediclic, a leading company in medical technology, has launched Cecilia, the first virtual medical assistant developed with artificial intelligence (AI) in Chile. This innovative tool aims to provide users with guidance and support in healthcare, utilizing reliable medical algorithms and data to offer quick and updated answers.

Cecilia can supply information on various medical topics, including symptoms, medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle recommendations. The platform adapts to each user’s specific needs, allowing for rapid and trustworthy access to valuable medical information.

The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and complies with all data privacy and security regulations, offering users a secure and confidential environment.

On average, the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region has nearly half the number of doctors per 1,000 inhabitants (2.0 in LAC and 3.5 in the OECD), almost a third of the number of nurses (3.5 in LAC and 10.3 in the OECD), and less than half the number of hospital beds (2.1 in LAC and 4.3 in the OECD); private healthcare spending is also higher than in the OECD. On average, 32.4% of healthcare spending in LAC was paid out-of-pocket in 2019, above the OECD average of 20%.

In this regard, the benefits of Cecilia for Mediclic users are significant. It provides access to quick and reliable information and offers general guidance and advice on symptom management, first aid, and more.

“The need to develop this innovation arises from the growing demand for access, education, prevention, emotional support, and efficiency in healthcare,” said Daniel Silberman, CEO of Mediclic.

Metlife, Seguros Falabella, and Pucobre are some companies that have shown enthusiasm for implementing this service among their employees.

Salomon Simkins, CPO of Mediclic, clarified, “Cecilia is not intended to replace consultation with a healthcare professional, but is one of the tools we have developed to guide and accompany our patients at all times.”

Developed using Vitale.ai technology, Cecilia is pioneering in the Chilean market and sets a milestone in the healthcare industry in Chile and the broader Latin American community. Starting in July, companies that are clients of Mediclic will be able to access Cecilia through the web platform.
